Judicial History of Karimnagar

Establishment of the First Judicial Court (1956)

The formal judicial system in Karimnagar was established in the year 1956 with the creation of the District Munsif Court. Alongside it, a Sub Court was also constituted, marking the beginning of structured civil and judicial administration in the district.

During its early years, the courts functioned from the Kamadhenu Market Complex premises. The earlier structure at the site was dismantled, and the present Kamadhenu Complex was later constructed.

This modest beginning laid the foundation for the district’s evolving judicial framework.


Construction of the Permanent Court Buildings

The judiciary purchased land for the construction of a dedicated court building.

The foundation stone was laid on  23 March 1964 By Sri Hon’ble sri Chandra reddy ,Cheif Justice of Andhrapradesh.

The  District Court building was inaugurated on 4th Sep 1967 by Sri Kasu Brahmananda Reddy,Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

The inauguration marked a significant milestone in strengthening the judicial infrastructure of Karimnagar and symbolized the district’s commitment to rule of law.


First Generation Advocates of Karimnagar

During the formative years, when the courts operated from the Kamadhenu Complex, the legal fraternity comprised approximately 15–20 dedicated advocates who pioneered the practice of law in the district.
